🧾 Ingredients
For the Meat Sauce:
- 500g (1 lb) ground beef or veal
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 400g crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- A pinch of sugar
- Optional: dried basil or oregano
For the Béchamel Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups warm milk
- Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Other:
- 8–10 lasagna pasta sheets (pre-cooked or oven-ready)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
👨🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the Meat Sauce:
- Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté onion and garlic until soft.
- Add ground meat and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomatoes and tomato paste. Season with salt, pepper, sugar, and herbs.
- Simmer for 20–30 minutes until thick.
2. Make the Béchamel:
- Melt butter in a saucepan and stir in flour.
- Gradually add milk while whisking constantly.
- Cook until thickened. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg if desired.
3. Assemble the Lasagna:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Spread a little béchamel in the bottom of a baking dish.
- Layer pasta sheets, meat sauce, béchamel, and mozzarella.
- Repeat layers. Finish with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
4. Bake:
- Cover with foil and bake for 30–35 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake 10 more minutes until golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
